Lux
Take a photo of the scene and Lux gives you three ways to shoot it, set for the camera and lens you actually own.
See LuxThe problem
A mirrorless or DSLR camera can take a far better photo than a phone, but only if you know what to set it to: aperture, shutter, ISO and white balance, all at once, for the light in front of you. Lux starts from a photo of exactly that.
Why we built it
In your words: what was the moment that started Lux, and how did you, Mi and Chris come together on it?
Lux is a team project, and Mi built the iPhone app.
Three takes, set for your gear
Take a photo of the scene and Lux gives you three ways to shoot it. Each take is a whole recipe: aperture, shutter, ISO and white balance, plus one tip for framing it.
Pick your camera and lens once, and every number stays inside what they can reach. If Lux doesn’t know your lens, it keeps to safe values, nothing wider than f/8, rather than guessing.
Match a look
If you’re after a particular look, add a reference photo, and Lux gives you a take that matches it.
The choices behind it
Photos are used for one request and then discarded. Lux asks before it sends any photo to the AI model, there’s no sign-up, and it launches without analytics.
It’s one subscription with a free week. A week, rather than three days, so a photographer can take it on a real shoot, and a week always has a weekend in it.
Looking back
Your thoughts: what you’ve learned so far, and what you’d like Lux to become.
